The documentation section of this file was developed from the NWT LTER Data
Directory (Symphony files DDABSTRA.WR1, DDDOCUME.WR1, DDMASTER.WR1,
DDVARIAB.WR1; last updated 16 December 1991) by Susan Kindig and Rick
Ingersoll in early November 1992. Some comments, the header section, and
baseline data were provided by Tim Seastedt in a 13 November 1992 email
message.[RCI, 12 November 1992] This file was put under sccs control on 30
March 1993. See the appropriate history file for additional log information.
[RCI 30 March 1993] More detailed column header information was supplied
by Tim Seastedt on 18 June 1993. This information was incorporated on
23 June 1993. At the same time species codes acro and ange were changed
to acoros and andger, respectively, in order to be consistent with other
NWT plant species codes.[RCI 23 June 1993] On 19 July 1993, Tim Seastedt
provided a fully updated data section in an email message. The species
codes acro, ange, and 0bag were changed to acoros, andger, and 000bag,
respectively. A comment was placed in curly brackets, the non-data
components of the email message were deleted, the original data section
in this file was deleted and replaced with that from the 19 July email
message on 22 July 1993.[RCI 22 July 1993]

TITLE. Litterbag decomposition: nutrient flux study.
ABSTRACT. The extent to which foliar detritus can immobilize and mineralize
nitrogen was studied by measuring litter dynamics acorosss a snow
accumulation transect in the Saddle. Litter used included Acomastylis rossii
and a grass species.

LOCATION. Study area was comprised of selected locations in the Saddle along
the snow-depth transect and other sites exhibiting sharp microclimatic
differences. Samples are stored at Research Laboratory #1 (Room 178) and
original data are stored at Research Laboratory #1 (Room 119).
TIMING. begin 1991, ongoing, quarterly.
