Cells short-cylindric and broadly rounded at both poles; chloroplasts are 2, yellowish, broad, parietal plates with a single large pyrenoid each; in anterior end a contractile vacuole above which 1, relatively long and forward-dricted flagellum arises; posterior regions a cluster of elongate trichocysts, and laterally a red eye-spot.
